KAPPAZURI - STENZIL PRINTS

Kappazuri, also known as kappa-zuri, kappazuri-e, and as katagamizuri-e, are Japanese prints printed in a single color (usually black) from woodblocks    and then colored by stencilling  (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Hosoban (34,5 x 15,0 cm) ca. 1813-1824 Kappazuri-e. Series: Gion mikoshi arai nerimono sugata. Title: Fushimi ningyô. A geisha hits Fukusuke on the head with a fan. Signed: Nagahide ga. Publishers: Yamasa-ban and Honjô-ban. Very good impression and colours. Generally excellent state of preservation.
